General method of compounding ointments
____________________________________
Grind the solid ingredients into a fine uniform state.
Levigate the powdered ingredients with a little amount of paraffin oil or melted vehicle, and then add more of the vehicle to get uniform consistent paste.
Melt the rest of the vehicle and all compatible ingredients into a water bath, and add the prepared paste to the melted vehicle, mix thoroughly to a uniform mixture.
Remove the mixture from the heat source and continue stirring until near its congealing point and pour it into the final package.
Put the package in a cool place or in the refrigerator rapidly after filling to ensure the solidification of the ointment before sedimentation of the suspended ingredients.
Polyethylene glycol
Polyethylene glycol
